Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, to some, it is a hymn, to others its the story of Wiliam Wilberforce and how he lead Thomas Clarkson, Henry Brougham, Thomas Fowell Buxton, Elizabeth Heyrick, Mary Lloyd, Jane Smeal, Elizabeth Pease and Anne Knight to abolish the slave trade. I’m glad they did this, other wise hundreds of thousands of people could be still be dieing at the hands of slave masters. To finish off, I’ll leave you with the lyrics of a song written by a man who gave up being a slave boat owner and asked God to forgive him; Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.

Riddle

A little moron and a big moron were standing on the edge of a bridge. The big one fell off, the little one didn’t. Why didn’t the little moron fall off?

Argument

Animals in captivity

Zoos, one simple word. Yet it does so much. But some people think that zoos are not good for animals. So the question has been razed, should
New Zealand allow endangered animals to be kept in captivity. I think yes, and here’s why.

Firstly, think of the amount of animals that could die if humans hadn’t intervened. For example here is a list of some of the animals that humans have saved: giant panda, lesser panda, Asian elephants, African elephants, tigers, whales, white lions, lions, dugongs and the list goes on. Currently, we should keep endangered animals in captivity to save them from poachers, disease and removal of habitat.

Also, the animals bring entertainment to people just by being themselves. I can’t see why people don’t think that having animals in captivity is a good thing. The animals are happy and think what they could be doing right now in the wild. That’s right they could be running away from an angry farmer or a poacher.

Humans also benefit from animals and they have right from the stone ages, where they grazed sheep for wool and meat, kept dogs for hunting, grazed cows for milk and meat and finally used donkeys and horses for riding, turning mill wheels and transporting goods. Most of those things are used today as well.

However, some people say that putting animals in captivity will tear them away from their natural instincts, especially if their trained to do tricks or perform in shows.
New Zealand only has one animal show, which is a performing dolphin.

Secondly, some times dangerous animals like lions and tigers, can attack their keeper. Even though the keeper raised them from birth. And it can also happen out of the blue and take the keeper by surprise. Also the amount of dog attacks in
New Zealand is largely increasing, so the government introduced micro chipping but I’m not going into that.

Finally, animals can also run away if badly treated and can be injured in the process. For example, you wouldn’t like it if you were shot with a slug gun would you? Well that’s what’s happening all over
New Zealand every year. The SPCA takes in hundreds if cases of animal abuse and then if the owner is unworthy of taking it back then the SPCA adopts the animal to another owner. You wouldn’t like being taken away from you parents and be sent out some where else would you?

In conclusion, I’m not so sure any more if having animals in captivity is such a good thing, but I still think it’s necessary to keep our endangered animals roaming this earth that we all call home.

S.W.O.R.D.

Your probably wondering what is a S.W.O.R.D. a S.W.O.R.D. is a advanced battle robot. The US army uses them instead of sending troops in. S.W.O.R.D.s can climb stairs and can carry any weapon that a man can carry, forces can deploy S.W.O.R.D.s from a safe distance and remain safe.
